A.  An Introduction To The Life And Teaching of Bawa Muhaiyaddeen

1. The True Meaning Of Islam Is Unity And Oneness

Bismillahir-Rahmanir-Rahim. In the Name of God, Most Merciful, Most Compassionate.

My dearest loving brother. When we read your letter our hearts were immediately connected. We became one life within the one God, the one Truth, the one prayer, and the one family. This is Islam.

There is no distance in the world of the souls or the world of God. Distance only occurs in the world of hell, the world of separation and differences, which we are now currently experincing as "who we are" and "where we are". But Bawa teaches us that when our hearts are open to the oneness of life we become one with all life and when we become one with all life we become one with God. That Oneness of God is really "who we are" and the Pure Kingdom of God is really "where we are". For in truth we are who God is, and we are where God is.

This is Islam, or as Bawa calls it, Iman-Islam. Iman is absolute faith certitude and determination in God, or Muhammad (may the peace and blessings of God be upon Him) at the level of Abraham (may the blessings of God be upon Him), and Islam is the Purity, the Unity, and the Oneness of God. Islam is the Light of God, or Muhammad (Sal.) at the level of the Nur Muhammad (may God be pleased with Him). It is the Light of Wisdom, the Body of the Soul. And as Bawa teaches us, without Iman there is no Islam, without the faith of Abraham (A.S.), the fourth level of wisdom, there is no Lam, no Light of God, no reflection in the mirror of our heart of the radiance of Allah in the Hereafter, no reflection of the Kingdom of God in the Hereafter, in Akhirah.

The living realization of this truth is Islam, or Iman-Islam. The path to this living realization is the path of faith, the light for that path is wisdom, the destination of that path is truth, realizing this is peace, and God is the one who walks this path, not us. We have but to understand it to realize and become it, to realize and become who in truth we already are.

2.  We Have Come To The "School of Contrasts" - called the world to understand
"Who We Are, Who God Is, And The Relationship Between Us"

Bawa Muhaiyaddeen (may God be pleased with Him) teaches us that before we came to this world of illusion, to the dunya, to the world of earth, to creation, we were in the world of souls, in Awwal.

In the world of the souls we were one with God, we were in the state of purity and we were in the form of light. At that time we were one with God, we were one with all life, but we had no understanding of God, and no understanding of who we were in relationship to God.

Bawa teaches us that God tried to teach us an understanding of ourselves, within the world of souls, but that we could not understand it because it was purity trying to learn about purity, and understanding only occurs through contrast.

So God created a school of contrast called the world, so that we could through contrast understand who we are, who God is, and the relationship between us, by first experiencing who we aren't, who God isn't, and the false relationships of separation and differences.

We must learn this first, since it is only by contrast that we learn. It is only by experiencing impurity that we can understand purity. It is only by experiencing a life of separation and differences that we can understand a life of selflessness, a life of oneness with all life. It is only by experiencing who we aren't that we can understand who in truth we already are.

Bawa teaches us that it is only by experiencing and understanding this contrast and by extracting the point of truth from the contrast that we can understand and experience who we truly are, who God truly is, and the true relationship between us.
Bawa teaches us that all things have been created in pairs to demonstrate this contrast.

Bawa tells us that at all times within us are both the good and the bad of all things, the right and the wrong of all things, the light and the darkness of all things. But it is only the awakened wisdom within us, the sixth level of wisdom within us, that can discriminate between each pair that makes up a contrast. This is not something that we can do with our intellect, with the third level of wisdom within us.

It is only the awakened wisdom, the sixth level of wisdom within us, that can form the contrast within us, that can form and see the contrast within us, the example of right and wrong within everything within us. We cannot do this with our mind, with our intellect, with the third level of consciousness within us.

We cannot form or see this contrast within us that God has placed within us, with our mind, or with our intellect. Only Divine Wisdom can do this Divine Work and only one who as realized, accepted, understood, and joined with God, as the reality, as the truth within everything, will awaken and join with the Divine Wisdom which God has placed exclusively within man to do this Divine Work.

With our mind and desire at the level of intellect we can only form and see the dream within us, the dream of separation and differences that we interpret as right and wrong on the outside of us, but is only a dream of right and wrong within us that we see outside of us, it is only the darkness and the glitters of darkness within us that we see with our mind and desire and intellect as residing outside of us. It is never the true contrast of truth and falsehood that God Himself has lovingly placed within us. Please realize and accept this my loving brothers.

And it is only the luminous wisdom within us, the seventh level of wisdom within us, that can use the contrast formed within us, the contrast formed by the sixth level of wisdom within us, to extract the point of truth within us that has no contrast within us. It is only this seventh level of wisdom within us that can extract the point of God within us from the contrast of God within us. The point of God within us that transcends all contrasts, because in truth God has no contrast.

It is only this seventh level of wisdom that can extract the understanding or Divine Knowledge of God, the Ilm of God, from within us, from the contrast within us, that can take the understanding of who we are, who God is, and the relationship between us, that transcends the contrast of God within us, because in truth who we are and our relationship with God also has no contrast.

My dearest loving brother, there is absolutely nothing that we are currently experiencing that is like who we are, who God is, and our relationship with God. Please think about this a little. It would be good.

My dearest loving brother, this is the highest learning created by God, the learning that only man can achieve, the learning which separates man from the animals, and from all of the other creations of God, the learning that is reserved exclusively by God for man, the most exalted creation of God, reserved by God for the creation of God that God has personally given the sixth and seventh levels of Divine Consciousness, that God has personally given the very Consciousness of God, so God's intention can be completed, so God's reason for creating everything can be completed.

And God's intention and reason for creation are to reveal God to God within God for the benefit of all of the creations of God within the 18,000 universes, within man and within God and within God and within man.

Amen, Amen, Ya Rabil Alameen. Amen, Amen, Ya Rahman Alameen. Amen, Amen, Ya Rahim Alameen. Al-hamdu lillah.

Please realize, accept, understand, and join with this truth my loving brother. There is no other way.

My dearest loving brother, all creations other than man only have up to the fifth level of consciousness; feeling, awareness, intellect, judgment, and subtle wisdom. Only man has the last two levels of consciousness within the seven levels of consciousness created by God; Divine Analytic Wisdom and Divine Luminous Wisdom.

These last two levels of wisdom represent the wisdom of the Qutbiyatt of God, the Power of God, and the wisdom of the Nur Muhammad of God, the Original Light of God that emerged out of God in the time known as Anadi, the time before the beginningless beginning, the time of darkness or lack of understanding, becoming the Guru of God, awakening within God an understanding of Himself, awakening Him to all of the lives within Him.

And to His Duty toward them, His duty of Bismillahir-Rahmanir-Rahim; the Creator, the Ruler, and the Sustainer or Nourisher.

And as God was awakened, so must we be awakened. And how God was awakened, so must we be awakened, by the awakening of the sixth and seventh levels of wisdom within us, within God within us. For as Bawa teaches us The contrast of good and evil within us can only be formed and seen and discarded as it was seen and discarded by God, by the Qutb and Nur of God emerging out of us, to explain to us who we are, who God is, and our relationship with God. If this does not occur within us then we will remain as the Shadow of the Nur and experience 105 million rebirths, forever seeing only what we now see outside of us.

My dear brother, Bawa teaches us that the Divine Wisdom of the Qutbiyatt naturally surrounds the soul of man within us, and was placed within man by God when He originally created Adam, Adam who is our Primal Father. Bawa tells us that this wisdom is the essence of all life that was extracted from all life by God after He created all life but before He created man, it is the Dhat or essence of God.

This is Muhammad (may the peace and blessings of God be upon Him) in the eighth heaven, in Firdaus withn us, my loving brother, not some historical figure who lived 1400 years ago in the desert. And this is in truth who you are and where you are, if the essence of you can be extracted out of what you are now currently experiencing as who you are and where you are.

It is this light of analytic wisdom, this Wisdom of the Qutbiyatt, this Muhammad of Firdaus, this essence of all life that knows and understands all life, this light of discrimination, this sixth level of wisdom, that God has placed within man.

This sixth level of wisdom surrounds the soul of man but is currently sleeping, just waiting for the words of light from the True Shaikh to awaken it, just waiting for us to accept the words and life of the True Shaikh as the words and life of the Nur Muhammad of God within us, just waiting for us to accept the Light of God as having emerged out of God in Anadi.

And for this age, the True Shaikh of God, the Wisdom of the Qutbiyatt of God, the Nur Muhammad of God, the Life and Teaching of God for this age, is our Father, Shaikh Muhammad Rahim Bawa Muhaiyaddeen (may God be pleased with Him). We have but to truly realize, accept, understand, and join with Him to liberate our soul.

For as Bawa told us one day in the room,

          "I haven't come for you, I have come for your soul, I have come to awaken the
          wisdom surrounding your soul, so the wisdom surrounding your soul can do
          battle with the enemy of the soul."

And when Bawa said this, this child asked Him,

          "Bawa, who is the enemy of my soul?"

And Bawa looked right at me and said,

          "You are!".

So we have all of it, my dearest loving brother - we have God, all that is within God, and all that God has discarded. The choice is ours.

For as Bawa teaches us,

          "The Justice of God is that whatever you intend is what you receive."
